Susan Skjei has also emphasized the importance of being in touch with the world around us -- perhaps this can be thought of as 'synchronizing' with others and the situation. This is in contrast to a common idea that being authentic is about "speaking my truth" in an isolated context. Dictionary.com from etymology -- Authentic implies that the contents of the thing in question correspond to the facts and are not fictitious; Perhaps we are talking synchronzing our body and mind -- and that this help us percieve things as they are and therefore -- our view of the situation has greater chance of 'corresponding to the facts.' I think there is more to this related to embodiment and with the idea of resonance, but I will leave that to others to explore... |
